If you have been using your garage as a catch-all up until now, then you may look around at all those boxes and bags scattered everywhere and wish that you had done a better job of keeping your garage organized and clean. A messy garage can quickly get out of hand. Not only can a messy garage make it hard for you to find anything that you are looking for, but the mess can also be a tripping and falling hazard, a fire hazard, and a perfect environment for may types of pests to infest. If you have decided that you want to take back your garage and get it in order, then you should follow the tips offered here.

Purchase shelves

You want to purchase shelving units that allow you to stack boxes and bags on the shelves. You can also have high shelves built along the walls of the garage where you can put more stuff above the shelving units. Make sure you use this opportunity to get rid of absolutely everything you don't want and don't need. All the boxes and bags you allow to go up on those shelves should be things that you have looked at and determined to be worth keeping and allowing to take up room in the garage you are working so hard on to straighten out.

Put up bike racks

If you have bicycles taking up room in the garage, then you want to have bike racks installed in the garage that allow you to hang the bikes where they will be off of the ground and out of your way. The bike racks hold the bikes, but they also make it easy for you to pull the bikes down when it is time to take a bike ride.

Rent a dumpster

You are going to need to rent a dumpster for all of those things that you deem to be trash. When your garage is allowed to become a big mess, you may be surprised by just how much trash you have in there. When you rent a dumpster, you can call up and request for it to be emptied as soon as it is full. Then, you can continue filling it up again. You can do this as many times as you need to until you finally have all of the trash out of the garage. Once everything is thrown out, you can stack everything you are keeping on those shelves and enjoy a clean garage.
